Promises made at baptism, either by parents and sponsors or by the newly baptized, call us to be disciples who learn about the love and grace of God through scripture, the confessional statements of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and faith practices. The primary opportunity for Christian Education is through Sunday Church School, Confirmation Ministry and Bible Study Groups.
Sunday School Classes and Curriculum
The preschool class uses the contemporary curriculum, “Holy Moly” by SparkHouse Publishing. Child-friendly movie clips tell Biblical stories through animation and humor. The story is then reinforced with engaging activities.
The elementary classes learn from the lectionary-based material, “Deep Blue.” The Biblical story for the day is introduced with a lively video, shown in our theater. Children then explore the story in more depth through instagrams and other contemporary media.
Confirmation Ministry is a two-year program that studies both the Old and New Testaments, along with parts of Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, including the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
